There is much confusion as to whether Abeni is biologically Sarah Hunter's daughter or not. After Sarah came to an agreement with her lovers that they could each adopt one of the twenty-four rescued babies as their own, Abeni was adopted by Delphine Guillaume. When the twenty-four babies became ill suddenly, a decision had to be made. Blood from both Sarah and the other adoptive parent was shared with each of the babies. Abeni now has the same amount of Sarah's blood as her biological children. It was decided that if she did not give birth to her, Abeni could not be her biological daughter.
